Trenton Children’s Chorus

The Trenton Children’s Chorus is joined by the renowned Westminster Jubilee Singers for a concert led by conductors Patty Thel and Vinroy D. Brown, Jr.  Come enjoy an evening celebrating African-American heritage and culture featuring favorite songs and hymns to shine light on your day.

 


Westminster Conservatory at Nassau

Westminster Conservatory at Nassau continues with a  recital featuring music of Franz Schubert and African-American composer Nathaniel Dett.  The performers will be guest soprano Holly Gash and two members of the Westminster Conservatory faculty, Kenneth Ellison, clarinet and Clipper Erickson, piano.

The February 20 program comprises spiritual arrangements by Dett, Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen (The Shepherd on the Rock) for soprano, clarinet, and piano, and a work by Dett for solo piano, Enchantment.

On March 19 Westminster Conservatory at Nassau will present music for flute, clarinet, and piano performed by Katherine McClure, Kenneth Ellison, and Esma Pasic-Filipovic.

Open to the public and free of charge.

New School for Music Study Recital

The New School for Music Study faculty recital series continues with a concert celebrating American composers.  Join faculty members Marvin Blickenstaff, Jason Gallagher, Esther Hayter, Angela Triandafillou Jones, Margie Nelson, Allison Shinnick, and Trevor Thornton as they present a wide array of American music, featuring compositions by Amy Beach, Aaron Copland, Tom Gereau, Charles Griffes, Scott Joplin, and Fanny Price.

These recitals are open to the public and free of charge.

Jazz Lent Service with Ike Sturm

Jazz bassist and composer, Ike Sturm and his ensemble will be returning to Nassau Presbyterian Church for an evening Lent service.   Original compositions and improvisations will be woven through prayer and scripture for a truly remarkable beginning to the Lenten season.

The Ike Sturm Ensemble is a family of friends and musicians playing original, contemplative music and creatively leading congregational song at Saint Peter’s Church (the “Jazz Church”) in New York City and around the world.  Featuring world renowned soloists Melissa Stylianou (voice), Godwin Louis (saxophone), Chris Dingman (vibraphone), Jesse Lewis (guitar), and Ike Sturm (bass/compositions).

A free-will offering benefiting the Latin-American Legal Defense Fund will be collected, and the service will be followed by a reception.  Be sure to bring your family and friends!
