Call to Worship, Welcome, Prayer of Confession
& Assurance of Forgiveness

Rev. Lauren J. McFeaters

Prayer of Confession
O God our Wisdom, who eternally makes all things new;
encourage us by your Holy Spirit to live with compassion and honesty.
We are willful.
Guide us to selflessly labor together for the building up
of your world and your church;
We are selfish.
Turn our hearts toward those in greatest need.
And help us never to forget that love and mercy
are your greatest gifts,
given to us to offer one another,
in the name of Jesus Christ, who is
our Joy, our Way, our Truth, and our Life. Amen.

Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation” (Glory to God # 394)

Marissa Chalker, George Somerville & Noel Werner

1. Christ is made the sure foundation,
Christ the head and cornerstone,
chosen of the Lord and precious,
binding all the church in one;
holy Zion’s help forever,
and our confidence alone.

2. To this temple, where we call you,
come, O Lord of hosts, and stay;
come, with all your loving-kindness;
hear your people as we pray,
and your fullest benediction
shed within these walls today.

3. Here bestow on all your servants
what they seek from you to gain;
what they gain from you, forever
with the blessed to retain;
and hereafter in your glory
evermore with you to reign.

4. Laud and honor to the Father,
laud and honor to the Son,
laud and honor to the Spirit,
ever three and ever one:
one in might and one in glory
while unending ages run!

Time with Children

Corrie Berg

Acts 19

1.What about Paul’s message made Demetrius (and the other silversmiths in Ephesus) so upset?  Why?

2. Would you like to have been one of Paul’s traveling companions? What would be fun? What would be hard?

Scripture Lesson & Sermon

Rev. Lauren J. McFeaters

Ephesians 4:1-13

In Christ There Is No East or West” (Glory to God #317)

Steve Updegraff & Noel Werner, piano

1. In Christ there is no east or west,
in him no south or north,
but one great fellowship of love
throughout the whole wide earth.

2. In Christ shall true hearts everywhere
their high communion find;
his service is the golden cord
close-binding humankind.

3. Join hands, disciples of the faith,
whate’er your race may be.
All children of the living God
are surely kin to me.

4. In Christ now meet both east and west;
in him meet south and north.
All Christly souls are one in him
throughout the whole wide earth.

Affirmation of Faith, Call for Offering & Prayers of the People

Rev. David A. Davis

Romans 8:1, 35, 37-39
There is therefore now no condemnation
for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Who will separate us from the love of Christ?
Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
No, in all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life,
nor angels, nor rulers,
nor things present, nor things to come,
nor powers, nor height, nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Thanks be to God.
