September 6, 2020 Worship

This Sunday, we will celebrate communion together. Please gather the elements using what you have at home prior to starting the service. To increase the possibilities of sharing communion together and emphasize our unity as the Body of Christ, the video clip of the celebration of the Lord’s Supper will be available only on Sunday. Other aspects of worship will remain available through the week and in archives.

Thank you for worshiping with us this morning. You can follow along with the order of worship below. Each video will play on this page and the words to the prayers and hymns are listed below the video. If you so choose, there is a YouTube playlist listed below for “one-click worship.” The words to hymns and prayers for the playlist can be found by clicking “show more” on the bottom left, below each video. For both choices, closed captions can be used by clicking the “CC” button at the bottom right in the video screen.

God Is Here Today/Dios está aquí ” (Glory to God #411)

Carol Fagundus & Michael Ryan, piano

Dios está aquí,
tan cierto como el aire que respiro,
tan cierto como la mañana se levanta,
tan cierto como que le canto y me puede oír.

God is here today;
as certain as the air I breathe,
as certain as the morning sun that rises,
as certain when I sing you’ll hear my song.

Call to Worship, Welcome, Prayer of Confession
& Assurance of Forgiveness

Rev. Len Scales

Prayer of Confession

Gracious God,
we confess all of humanity is created in your image.
Yet, we live in a world the devalues human life based on color, gender, sexuality, ability, and economic status.
Give us eyes that see your beauty in our neighbor,
minds that turn back to your righteousness,
hands that offer compassion and care.
We hear again what you ask of us,
to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with you, our God. Amen.

All People That on Earth Do Dwell” (Glory to God #385)

Maria Palombo & Michael Ryan, organ

1. All people that on earth do dwell,
sing to the Lord with cheerful voice;
him serve with mirth, his praise forth tell.
Come ye before him and rejoice.

2. Know that the Lord is God indeed;
without our aid he did us make;
we are his folk; he doth us feed,
and for his sheep he doth us take.

3. O enter then his gates with praise;
approach with joy his courts unto;
praise, laud, and bless his name always,
for it is seemly so to do.

4. For why? The Lord our God is good;
his mercy is forever sure;
his truth at all times firmly stood,
and shall from age to age endure.

Time with Children

Genesis 6:8–8:22 (Noah and the Ark)

What do you think it was like to live on the ark with all those animals?

What did you learn about God from this story?

Lord Jesus, You Shall Be My Song ” (Glory to God #737)

Noel Werner

1. Lord Jesus, you shall be my song as I journey;
I’ll tell everybody about you wherever I go:
you alone are our life and our peace and our love.
Lord Jesus, you shall be my song as I journey.

2. Lord Jesus, I’ll praise you as long as I journey.
May all of my joy be a faithful reflection of you.
May the earth and the sea and the sky join my song.
Lord Jesus, I’ll praise you as long as I journey.

3. As long as I live, Jesus, make me your servant,
to carry your cross and to share all your burdens and tears.
For you saved me by giving your body and blood.
As long as I live, Jesus, make me your servant.

4. I fear in the dark and the doubt of my journey;
but courage will come with the sound of your steps by my side.
And with all of the family you saved by your love,
we’ll sing to your dawn at the end of our journey.

Tending the Flock

Please be aware that we made a mistake last week in announcing the death of our member Carol King. Carol has not died. We received word about a Carol King who has died, but this is not our church member. We deeply apologize for the confusion and sorrow we caused.
